Overview

Applying Grafana for server monitoring.

Role/Responsibilities

Studied Monitoring technologies to apply for tracking, reducing problems, and planning server resource management.

Problems/Challenges

Managing server resources without a monitoring system lacks the necessary data for analysis, potentially leading to system crashes and service disruptions. It is necessary to find a Monitoring technology to mitigate these issues.

Design Concept

Studied Monitoring technologies that help track server resource usage and provide alerts for potential server or system failures. Grafana is an interesting and user-friendly monitoring tool with easy-to-understand graph visualizations and is available for free use (Open Source).

Features

  • Monitoring: Provides real-time Metrics data for monitoring, such as CPU and Memory usage.
  • Dashboard: Displays data as Time Series graphs.
  • Alert: Allows setting up notifications through various channels, such as email.
  • Datasource: Supports various datasources, such as Prometheus, for storing Metrics data.

Outcome

Implemented Grafana for server monitoring, providing real-time visibility into various resources. The Dashboard allows for data analysis to inform decision-making regarding current situations. Alert notifications can be configured to promptly inform relevant personnel of issues through designated channels. This has made server monitoring more efficient and systematic.
